  • Marta has put a lot of Love and effort into writing this book. She's clearly passionate and knowledgeable about what she does and this book shows that.

    All of the recipes are very nourishing and healthful, and clearly filled with the love that she brings.
  • So, I was given a prepublication copy to read and review. But I volunteered to do that because I have purchased most, if not all of Marta’s books and was looking forward to her latest. I remember sitting in the auditorium at Bastyr, watching as Victoria Butenko held up a sheaf of Lacinato kale and described trying and becoming deathly ill when she attempted to drink a kale “smoothie” made with just kale and water. Then she learned that gorillas wrap their bananas with green leaves, and thus, the green smoothie was born. But many Smoothie “experts” seem stuck in the idea that Greens can only be tolerated if you add a ton of sweet fruit, and even those who include some savory recipes, still show a decided bent to sweet. So it was refreshing to see in this latest book by Marta that even the smoothies in which she includes fruit, she does it with a judicious hand, combined with other intriguing ingredients that I suspect help counter the sugar. Unfortunately, I have issues with sugar. Fortunately I have never had a sweet tooth (let’s not talk about beans, potatoes and other “non-sweet carbs”). I have marked many of the recipes in this new book for investigation. I highly recommend this book to all Smoothie lovers who like flavor in their food. If all you do is read the recipes, but never get around to trying many of them, you will have gotten more than your money’s worth. And if you actually try many of the recipes...I suspect your life will never be the same again, and in a good way.
  • I first found out about Marta at my doctor's office a couple of years ago. As I was waiting for my appointment in the lobby area, I found one of her books about alkaline diet lifestyle. I was needing to change my diet due to a cancer diagnosis. I knew I needed to change the foods I was consuming to help my body heal and overcome my immune system deficiency. I had already been trying to go all organic and non GMO. Most other recipes and cookbooks I had tried were complicated and required so many different expensive ingredients that I was being forced to give up a lot of my healthful plans because I could not afford them. I was also tired of trying fancy expensive "healthy" recipes only to have them bomb on me, taste awful and end up in the garbage can. This is not the case with Marta's recipe books. I have had many more successes than bombs when using her recipes.
    While I still have long way to go, I am healing and enjoying much better eating habits due to her enthusiastic, positive vibe and relatively simple and tasty recipes. Thank You for sharing what you know Marta! I always feel good when I follow your advise! I don't ever feel ashamed or feel guilty if I slide to the "other" side because this is my health and wellness journey and all I have to do is pick up your book of inspiration and yummy recipes and it is easy to get back on track again!
  • I was given the opportunity to read an advance copy of Marta Tuchowska’s ebook Alkaline Green Smoothies; my review follows

    This book is a worthy resource guide that includes practical judgement-free information rather than theory. The author starts with a short ‘crash course’ on the anti-inflammatory alkaline diet, offers a simple explanation of the difference between smoothies and juices, and then shares about her wellness journey to overcome autoimmune system disorder. I was impressed by Ms Tuchowska’s testimony that the alkaline diet is really about adopting a life-style change rather than a ‘diet’.

    I am recently retired after a management career in the corporate world; although I have never had issues controlling my weight -> over the past several years I have stopped eating processed foods; avoid sweets and GMOs; and include avocado oil, Tumeric, adaptogenic mushroom and Ashwaganda supplements. I have started weight bearing exercise three days per week and am trying to add protein powder and Maca to my diet.

    I have no prior experience with smoothies, so I appreciate the simple yet useful guidance provided in Alkaline Green Smoothies.
  • Disclaimer. I was given a preview edition of this book to read and review. Eating a plant based alkaline diet is important for me to reduce inflammation and stay healthy and active as I enter into my 70th decade. This latest book by Marta Tuchowska is a great addition to my recipe collection. With 40 alkaline smoothie recipes and 7 Smoothie Bowl recipes, this book will offer everyone a chance to fall in love with smoothies and help thier bodies become more alkaline. My favorites will be "Kale and Cashew Smoothie", "Avocado Softness Morning Smoothie" and "Ginger Anti-inflammatory Smoothie. I will use this book often as my go to smoothie recipe book.
